总商会经过长达十年的不懈努力，积极为本地居民争取公民权，最终促使政府于1957年10月通过公民权法案。直至1958年1月31日，超过22万多人顺利取得新加坡公民权。
我们诚邀您参观本次展览，回顾这段历程，重新认识公民权之旅以及它对新加坡建国的重要性。
In conjunction with SG60, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (hereinafter known as the Chamber) launches the “Sojourners to Citizens: The Citizenship Journey” Roving Exhibition to reflect on a pivotal chapter in our nation-building journey.
For over a decade, the Chamber fought for citizenship rights for the people. With the Chamber’s relentless campaigning, the people were granted the rights to become Singapore Citizens in October 1957. By 31 January 1958, more than 220,000 people had become Singapore Citizens.
We invite you to journey through this exhibition and re-discover the journey that helped shape the Singapore we know today.
